*Red hot Terrence Howard, a best actor Oscar nominee for his role in “Hustle & Flow,” has been cast in two new films set to roll camera later this year. The Chicago native has signed on for the lead in "PDR" ("Philadelphia Department of Recreation") for Lionsgate Films. Howard will star in the real-life story of Jim Ellis, who in the 1970s transformed a group of troubled inner-city kids into one of the best swim teams in the country. South African commercial director Sunu Gonera will direct the project, which is set to begin filming somewhere on the East Coast in late April. Howard has also been cast in the ensemble drama "August Rush" for Warner Bros., joining confirmed cast members Freddie Highmore, Keri Russell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Robin Williams. The story follows a charismatic Irish guitarist (Rhys Meyers) and a sheltered cellist (Russell) who enjoy a chance encounter one night but soon are torn apart, leaving in their wake an orphaned infant. Some years later, title character August Rush (Highmore), now performing on the streets of New York and cared for by someone he knows only as Wizard (Williams), uses his musical talent to find his biological parents. Howard will play a social worker who helps the family reunite. As previously reported, Howard was also recently cast opposite Jodie Foster in "The Brave One" for Warner Bros.
