*Art Shell will replace Norv Turner as head coach of the Oakland Raiders, marking his return to the organization that made him the first black head coach in NFL history when owner Al Davis first hired him in 1989.  Shell, 59, held the position for five years, amassing a 54-38 record and an AFC championship game appearance in 1990. His firing by Davis 12 years ago launched a revolving door at the position that saw five head coaches in the following 11 seasons. After leaving the Raiders, Shell was the offensive line coach with the Kansas City Chiefs for two seasons before taking up the same post with the Atlanta Falcons until he stepped down following the 2000 season.

*Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry is upset over a comment made by Charles Barkley Friday (Feb. 10) on TNT’s All-Star selection show. While discussing rookie Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets, which has relocated to Oklahoma City this season following Hurricane Katrina, the NBA analyst said the state was “no place for black people.” Barkley said: “The Oklahoma Sooners and the Hornets are the only brothers in town.” He also asked Paul if he had chickens and cows in his yard. “Obviously, Charles Barkley doesn't know what he's talking about,” Henry said in a statement. “Anyone who follows Barkley knows he's notorious for saying ridiculous things that have no basis in fact, and this case is a perfect example.”

*NFL veteran wide receiver Terrell Owens will host a new reality television fitness series from Banyan Productions that will “combine T.O.'s passion for working out with his natural curiosity about other people.” Guests on the show will come from the worlds of sports, entertainment and politics, and “no subject will be off limits.” "Terrell Owens is one of the most talked about and dominating athletes in all of sports. He's also honest, articulate and one of the most physically fit competitors in the country. We're looking forward to tapping into all of those qualities to create an original and groundbreaking series," said Ray Murray, President of Banyan Productions.

*Tiger Woods was joined by former President Bill Clinton at a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Tiger Woods Learning Center, a $25 million facility located in Anaheim, Calif. near the golf course where he played as a teen. The 35,000-square-foot building will offer after school interactive programs in science, math and technology. "This is by far the greatest thing that has ever happened to me," said Woods, currently the No. 1-ranked golfer and winner of both tournaments he has entered this year. "This is bigger than golf. This is bigger than anything I've done on the golf course. Because we will be able to shape lives.”

*Former Pittsburgh Steelers star Lynn Swann has received an endorsement for governor from Pennsylvania's Republican Party leaders, virtually guaranteeing that he will be the candidate to face Democratic incumbent Ed Rendell this fall. The 53-year-old, who seeks to become the state’s first black governor, was unopposed for the endorsement, which came in a unanimous voice vote during a meeting of the 300-plus-member Republican State Committee at a downtown hotel. "I haven't cried this much since I was inducted into the Hall of Fame," Swann told the crowd as he dabbed at tears.
