*Dennis Rodman fears his scheme to get back into the NBA will be foiled by officials, most notably NBA commissioner David Stern. "We don't get on," he told AFP. "The reason I haven't been back in the last two years is because of him and the fact that he's blocked my comeback so many times. I was supposed to go to the New York Knicks camp last summer but he blocked it. I was supposed to go to Denver after that but he blocked it. For some reason he doesn't want me back in the NBA and maybe he feels it will be all 'Dennis, Dennis, Dennis'. Well, wasn't it all Michael (Jordan), Michael, Michael in the past?"

*Major League Baseball star Sammy Sosa is likely to retire after rejecting an offer to join the Washington Nationals. "It's more than likely we have seen him in a uniform for the last time," Sosa's agent, Adam Katz, said Wednesday. The 37-year-old outfielder batted .221 with 14 home runs and 45 RBIs last year in his only season with the Baltimore Orioles. Katz said Sosa turned down the Washington Nationals offer because “he didn't want to go out there and underperform like he did last year because it was just too painful for him, and it's just something he doesn't want to go through again."

*Miami Dolphins tackle Damion McIntosh was arrested Wednesday on a charge of domestic violence against his wife, Precious McIntosh, at their home, police said. Precious was treated at a hospital and released, while 6-foot-4, 320-pound Damion was booked into the Broward County Jail. "We understand the serious nature of the charges and certainly don't condone in any way the type of conduct which has been alleged," coach Nick Saban said in a statement. "However, we will not make a comment about this specific matter until we collect more information." The McIntoshes were married during the 2004 season.

*Recently retired Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jerome “The Bus” Bettis says he may consider pursuing NFL broadcasting gigs as a new means of employment.  "I really don't have it figured out yet," Bettis told Reuters in an interview on Wednesday. "I want to do some television work but it depends on what opportunities are there, football related. Right now everything is an option."
