     · Jah Cure and Fantan Mojah team up for collaboration

Downsound Records artiste Fantan Mojah recently shot a video for the single Dem No Build Great Man featuring incarcerated reggae singer Jah Cure.  The video was shot by Mr. B who helmed Jah Cure’s chart topping True Reflections hit video.

The video for Dem No Build contains new rare footage of Jah Cure hanging out behind the Tower Street correctional facility as well as recording his vocals for the single.  “It was a good collaboration with Jah Cure, and the video shoot went well, we shot a part of it in Papine where I interact with real people, plus we have some nature scenes, and people are going to love the look of it. There are also scenes with murals featuring great black men. It’s inspirational and it has a message’, explained Fantan Mojah.

Fantan’s star continues to rise with the release of a handful of hit singles. These include Hungry, Hail the King, Thanks and Praise, Corruption and Uplift Yourself featuring First Born. Last year he released his debut album Hail the King for Greensleeves Records.

     · Voice Mail release debut album

Voice Mail members Kevin, Craig and O’Neil were virtual unknown up until late 2003. That year they hopped on to producer Tony Kelly’s Grindin rhythm and scored a radio hit with Harder featuring Delly Ranks.  A year later they teamed up with Ranks and the late dancer Bogle for Weh Di Time which was produced by Danny Champagne. The song soared to the top of the local and overseas reggae charts.  The trio later followed up with Weh Di Time Part 2, another chart hit.

Over the past year, the group has visited the charts with hits including Do What You Feel Like and the number one track Tribute to Bogle (Wacky Dip).

The aforementioned hits as well as seven new recordings can be found on Voice Mail’s debut album Hayee which was released overseas on January 1.  The 17 track album also features production work from the likes of Christopher Birch, Michael Fletcher, Nigel Staff, Robert Livingston, Donovan Bennett and Tony Kelly among others.

      · Elephant Man rockets up the charts with Gangsta Rock

Ever since he hit the charts with Willie Bounce last year, Elephant Man hasn’t been as visible on the charts as he once did. He makes a strong bid for chart supremacy with his latest hit Gangsta Rock which was produced by Christopher Birch and featured on the dancehall beat of the same name.

Gangsta Rock is currently riding local charts as well as overseas Reggae listings.

     · BITS AND PIECES

Craig ‚Leftside‘ Parks and Matthew ‚Esco‘ Thompson are featured in the new television advertisements for the Wysinco-distributed product Wata, which was shot on location in Lime Cay on the weekend. The duo’s latest project, the Galore rhythm was recently released on compact disc by Greensleeves Records.

Beenie Man and D’Angel scored the biggest publicity stunt of the year. With a new album on the way, Beenie Man worked the media for all its worth. And, speaking of Beenie Man, he looks set to score his 14th entry on Billboard’s R&B Hip Hop Singles & Tracks chart with the Tony Kelly-produced Hum Hum The song is bubbling under the Billboard chart.

Still on the Billboard charts, Baby Cham re-enters the R&B Hip Hop Singles & Tracks chart at number 97 with Ghetto Story. The song had spent two weeks at #100 and fell off the chart.  Meanwhile, Damian Marley re-enters the chart at number 84 with Road to Zion featuring Nas. The song spent three weeks on the chart and peaked at number 57 before falling off.
