ALICIA KEYS CHARITY GRATEFUL FOR M•A•C AIDS FUND: Singer thanks cosmetics company for donating to her Keep A Child Alive program.(March 23, 2006)
*Alicia Keys expressed her gratitude for a gift of $170,000 given to her AIDS charity Keep A Child Alive (KCA) by the M·A·C AIDS Foundation, a division of the M·A·C cosmetics company that made the donation through its Kids Helping Kids campaign. Keys serves as the Global Ambassador for KCA, a non-profit organization that asks the public for a dollar a day to purchase AIDS drugs for families in Africa. Kids Helping Kids is an annual holiday card initiative of the M·A·C AIDS Fund, with 100 percent of sales going to support pediatric AIDS programs worldwide. The cards, featuring artwork designed by children aged five to 15 from Brooklyn public schools, were available at M·A·C stores and online. Many celebrities used the cards for their personal holiday greetings last year, with all of the proceeds going to pediatric AIDS organizations. "Thank you M·A·C AIDS Fund. This takes the healing power of art further to save lives. Thank you to Brooklyn public schools for supporting Keep A Child Alive," said Keys. Speak Out
