WHAT ARE THE CRITICS ARE SAYING ABOUT GECKO TURNER? A LOT!

“[Gecko] is a bilingual force who draws on North and South American styles, from Brazilian samba to reggae to the blues and soul music with room to spare for some jazz trumpet. He was perhaps the most distinct voice at the entire festival.” (Commenting on Gecko’s performances at 2006’s SXSW Music Festival) ~Phil Gallo, Daily Variety

"Got it yesterday. Listened to it this morning. Dug it big time. Listing it tomorrow in our new releases chart. Love the variety of textures and styles and the mixture of languages. Spanish rarely sounds so sublime and suggestive the way Portuguese does, but they pull it off." (Commenting on Gecko’s Guapapasea! album). ~Phil Gallo, Daily Variety

**** (4 Stars) “[Gecko] mixes it up on his solo debut, and the results are deliriously fun, with everything sounding new and old at once. Turner - with the help of some top-flight musicians - mixes jazz, blues, samba, reggae, hip- hop, rock, Spanish and Arab music ~Rob Lowman LA Daily News

"I am loving it already.  When is the release?  When can I interview him?  He’s got great sounds and a great tale. "   ~Marco Werman BBC The World

"That there...that's...yes, that's baby making music right there!" (Quoting one of his favorite quotes from last year)  ~Jeff Miller Freelancer: Maxim, Giant, LA Times, Variety, Boston Phoenix, TV Guide, Cleveland Scene, Alternative Press, Relix, LA.com

“Gecko logra conjugar géneros muy diferentes entre si, pero una vez unidos nos suenan muy familiares al oido. No es samba, tampoco reggae, ni reggaeton, pero de que se pega se pega” ~ Tommy Calle Hoy Newspaper (LA, NY, and Chicago)
