*Now that the separation of Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons has been formerly announced, details of the long road to Friday’s press release have already begun bubbling to the surface.

According to the New York Post, the two have lived – and still remain – in isolated wings of their 10-bedroom home in Saddle River, NJ. One insider told the Post; "Their bedrooms are so far apart, they never saw each other anyway."

As previously reported, Russell is said to be dating Denise Vasi, described by the Post as “a cinnamon-skinned beauty whose photos can be viewed on IDModels.com.” Russell had her on his arm last Thursday while attending the G-Spa club in the Hotel Gansevoort and at the "Coke Side of Life" launch party at Capitale in New York.

Kimora is also rumored to have a new arm piece – New York Knicks guard Stephon Marbury. The two were spotted at New York’s Scores West partying until 4:30 a.m. last week.

Russell, the founder of Def Jam Records and the Phat Farm fashion label, met Kimora when she was a 17-year-old from St. Louis working the runway for New York Fashion Week. He married the 6-foot, half-black/half-Asian model in 1998 and the two soon became partners in business as well. Kimora oversaw the launch of Baby Phat, a women’s line for Phat Farm that has grown to include jewelry and other pricy accessories.

Throughout the marriage, Kimora served as a co-host for the short-lived daytime talk show “Life & Style” in 2004. ReganBooks published her book "Fabulosity" in February, and last month VH1 beguan airing "The Kimora Lee Simmons Show," which chronicles her life as a working mother. The couple has two daughters, Ming, 6, and Aoki, 3.

The Post claims that Kimora initiated the divorce. A source explains: "Baby Phat is now making more money than Phat Farm. She had the talk show. She had the magazine profiles. She's bigger than Russell now. She doesn't need him anymore."

Russell, meanwhile, is planning to move out of the house and expects Kimora to be reasonable when it comes to her take in the divorce.

“Not in a million years will we fight over money," Russell told the Post about the separation. When asked when things began to go wrong for the couple, Simmons joked: “We've been on the rocks for 15 years.”

Russell’s official statement announcing the split reads: "Kimora and I will remain committed parents and caring friends with great love and admiration for each other. We will ... continue to work side by side on a daily basis as partners in all of our businesses."
