*Former South African President Nelson Mandela got a visit from music producer Quincy Jones last weekend courtesy of the children’s rights organization, UNICEF, but a visit from Naomi Campbell was not publicized by the agency. The supermodel was charged with assault in New York City last week for allegedly throwing her cell phone at a housekeeper. She was released on her own recognizance and allowed to keep her passport so that she could make the trip to South Africa, her lawyer said. Campbell wasn't an official guest of UNICEF, according to spokeswoman Erika Vegter, but the agency was aware that she would be along for the visit. Photos of Q’s visit with Mandela were released Monday by UNICEF, who organized the meeting. Jones, who won UNICEF's 2005 Spirit of Compassion Award, is to meet with young South African artists and musicians on the challenges they face in an era of AIDS, crime, sexual violence and drug abuse. UNICEF said Jones would also learn about efforts to improve child survival and to prevent mother-to-child transmission of the AIDS virus.
Nelson Mandela & Quincy Jones *Meanwhile, more folks are coming out of the woodwork to claim they were attacked by Naomi Campbell. A security guard working the U2 concert at Madison Square Garden last year said the supermodel spat in his face. A police witness tells the New York Daily News: "Campbell told him he was a f**king a**hole and spat in his face." Another source claims Campbell screamed, "Don't you know who I am!" The source adds, "She acted like the spoiled prima donna you read about." The guard, however, did not file a police report. Also, the runway diva is currently facing seven years in jail for throwing the alleged cell phone attack on her former assistant, Ana Scolavino. Speak Out
