       *Back in fine, feline form, Eartha Kitt returned from a victorious battle with colon cancer to begin her postponed month-long residency at Manhattan's Cafe Carlyle.      

       The legendary entertainer, 79, had visited the doctor two months ago to address her carpal tunnel syndrome when the potentially-deadly disease was discovered. She was forced to postpone the Cafe Carlyle gig and undergo an operation.      

       Due to the early detection of the disease, the procedure was successful and she was able to reschedule the show’s premiere, which took place last night.       

       "I never expect anything to happen to me,” she tells Page Six. “I'm the healthiest person in the world. They operated right away, and I'm fine. I'd advise everyone to get a colonoscopy. (Working again) makes me feel grateful that I'm still wanted. Anyway, what would I retire to?"
