Just like the headline says, this page/board is where you can discuss the stuff that we didn't cover in today's issue. (It's sort of like feedback with a twist) Remember, NO name calling, racial taunting, graphic sex talk and vulgarity in general, PLEASE. -------------- EUR MOTIVATIONAL NOTE - by Jewel Diamond Taylor I am a big believer in writing down your goals. I've seen the outcome and benefits from thinking and inking my goals. Here are some tips about goal setting and goal getting that I teach in my seminars: At some point in life, everyone longs for a sense of meaning and purpose. A mission statement helps you to uncover your gifts and talents. A personal mission statement helps you to think about the questions concerning your happiness, health, faith, purpose and success: What is my purpose? What actions am I taking to live my best life? What legacy do I want to leave for my family? Writing a mission statement forces you to think deeply about your life. The best way to internalize your mission statement is to re-write and refer to it continuously. Develop goals in the 6 areas of life: Family and Home ---- Financial and Career --- Spiritual --- Physical and Health --- Social and Cultural --- Mental and Educational Begin with an action verb. (example --- Go to campus to register for my class. Go to my workout/yoga/kickboxing/exercise class 3 times a week. Call to make my dental appointment.) Your goals should be specific and measurable. (example - I will save $2,000 by December 2006. My sales will increase 25% in 3 months. My new car will be black, sun roof, CD player, etc.) Read with a pen in your hand, and enter in a journal the thoughts that peak your interest or that might be useful both now and in the future. Keep paper and pen near your bed side to capture the flow of creativity and things to do. Have a list of: things to do today Journaling helps you work through challenges and opportunities without the fear of social consequences. Writing can help you dream and live outside the box of your comfort zone. You can journal about things that you don't want to discuss with friends or family. Journaling is a great way to be creative and heal old emotional wounds that may be blocking your blessings. A blank page is a safe place to experiment with ideas that on the surface would seem far outside the realm of possibility. If your goals are out of sight --- they are out of your mind. Refer to your goals often. Give your mind an assignment. Train your brain to focus on achieving your dreams and priorities. Keep your list short, precise, do-able, optimistic, measurable and written with words of action. Visualize in your mind what you want to be, do and have. Success first starts in your mind and then your behind must get up and take action. Give thanks to God before you even see the manisfestation. Gratitude is a great attitude for goal GETTING!
