KLEOPATRA GIRL'S RINGSIDE REPORT: T.I. The King @ The House of BluesIt was a dirt black colored VIP carpet that was rolled out for friends of T.I. the leader of the ol’ dirty south rap music movement(June 30, 2006)
On the way to the House of Blues there were posters everywhere with T.I.’s image creating excitement and hype. However approaching the venue, traffic was jammed, parking cost a whopping $25.00 and since the House of Blues sits perched on Sunset, there is a deep incline to the actual entrance of the place, so considering I was in four inch heels, I had to take off my shoes and get soil and grit on my perfectly rhinestone pedicured feet and go barefoot southern style.
Once I arrived, I found a dirt-looking black colored carpet rolled out for guests instead of the traditional red, but I thought how appropriate for T.I. the King of the ol’ dirty south from ATL. The humidity in LA this pre-BET night added a little sweat and grime to the mix. Alrighty then, we barefooted, good n’ dirty but, eh, not pregnant, so let’s get down to the nitty gritty as to who was there. Among the first arrivals were Jackie Long star of the ATL Movie. He admitted that his new film has catapulted him to fame and that he has gotten great respect for his work. He said he spent a lot of time in Atlanta to get the vibe to prepare for his role. He advised that the key to success is “When it gets hard, keep going, cuz everything’s gonna get good.” ATL co-star, pretty Lauren London, who says that it is important to study your craft was also there. She looked like a singer but says has no music aspirations. “If I could sing I would. I just want to tie down acting now”. Slim Thug, from Houston rolled in wearing a fantastic grill that was blinging. Slim is a BIG guy and looks real menacing but after speaking with him, he seemed like a gentle bear. But you know a bear is a bear so I wouldn’t suggest dangling a slab bacon in front of him?!! Outrageously funny comedian Luenell and Hip-hop superstar Lil' Jon holla and holla back, BIG time. Luenell is the host of Bumpin' On Sunset every Wednesday at Miyagi's in LA (Photo: Papalee) Comedienne Luenell arrived tippy toeing in pretty shoes sporting a pimp goblet ala Bishop Don Juan style. Just as she was about to step onto the carpet, this huge 6’4” body guard type bumped into the petite star who currently co-hosts “Bumpin' On Sunset” comedy night at Miyagi’s and spilled alcohol all over her from cleavage to toe. Usually Luenell would have bleeped de bleeped him out but she was on good behavior and acted like a good sport saying that “it was refreshing” Although her face said something else. Luenell was there to support T.I. who she thinks is really cute. Kendra and Bridgett, two of the three of the “The Girls Next Door” dropped by to see what’s happening. They both confessed that they love Hip Hop and Rap. Kendra admitted owning a set of grills and wears them often. She I think is the liveliest of the three, so down to earth. She also confessed to owning a pimp cup. I asked what does Hef think about that, Bridget spoke up and said that, girl, he wears G-Units! That Hef is so on point. I’d date him. Both girls are ultra beautiful, they were so excited about attending and were on the look out for rappers. They ran into R&B singer, songwriter, William Hanford Lee Jr. and posed with him for photos. The Girls Next door are absolutely charming and friendly. The Girls Next Door stars Kendra and Bridgett took the night off from the mansion to party ATL dirty south style. They struck up a vibe with R&B singer/music composer William Hanford Lee Jr. whose music was recently featured in Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties!!! Meow! (Photo: Papalee) Nikko from American Idol talked about the challenges of the show. He said it’s not really a competition but “like family.” When asked how does it feel to take hard criticism, he said, “You can’t listen to that, you have to believe in yourself. Have courage to be you and you can’t go wrong with it.” He has started his new record label. “I’m doing it from the ground up” he proudly boasts. You can check him out on my space. Cutie Miss Hootz was on hand from “Flava of Love.” She says the show was cool and she’s currently in the studio and getting her foot in the door with new projects. Kelly Rowland who must be the most beautiful young woman on the face earth wearing a classy red dress, stopped to talk for a min. She had great shout outs for T.I. “ He’s amazing. He’s a great entertainer and great human being. I’m excited for him.” Paul Wall was in the house too. I asked him what set the stage for him to be a good rapper. He said that he would always rap on the school bus with friends. I asked him how do young people get in the game? He responded, “Keep striving, if it’s meant to be it’s gonna be.” He said he would be joining T.I. on stage. “I’m here to have fun.” At that point, there was a black hole in the black carpet and after 2 hours including the hour and change, before celebs arrived and waiting anxiously to see the main man T.I. and many of the other celebs that were listed to appear such as Steve Harvey, Cassie, Missy and more…and, no signs of those peeps on the carpet; and no ticket to get in the show, like other members of the media, I booked and started my trek back up the hill barefooted. Sure would’ve liked to see the King. I’m sure he was great. The only sign of T.I. for me was on the posters, but it was all good. – Kleo Post note: A couple of my friends went to the concert and said it was off the hizzzzz.
