MO’NIQUE NOT TRYING TO HEAR AIRLINE APOLOGY: United wants to make amends after throwing her off the plane.(July 28, 2006)
*Only time will tell whether or not Mo’Nique’s call for a black boycott of United Airlines will actually come to fruition. In the meantime, United representatives have been trying to contact the comedian and discuss the unfortunate events that led to her forced removal from a flight last Sunday. "We want to talk to her about what happened and express our regret," a United Airlines spokeswoman told the New York Daily News. The apology, however, comes several days too late for Mo’Nique, who is reportedly refusing to take their phone calls. She claims racism was at the bottom of the incident that sparked the whole debacle. As previously reported, a hair stylist for the actress moved from her coach seat to place Mo’Nique’s hair dryer into an overhead bin in first class, where the comedian was ticketed. Two United flight attendants objected to the stowing of a coach item in first class and refused to believe that the hair dryer belonged to Mo’Nique. The actress became offended. An ensuing altercation led to Mo’Nique and her crew being kicked off the aircraft. The experience has left her extremely upset at the airline and unwilling to give them the time of day, even for an apology. "Mo'Nique has no intention of speaking to anyone at United,” her publicist Marcell Pariseau told the Daily News. “She was humiliated by what some United employees did to her. She'll leave it up to her lawyers." Speak Out
