*The District Attorney’s office in New York announced Thursday that it has dropped criminal charges against radio jock DJ Star, who launched a racist and sexually-threatening on-air assault against a rival DJ and his family.

Born Troi Torain, DJ Star will have his case dropped in six months if he does three days community service and stays away from the four-year-old daughter of his nemesis DJ Envy of rival station Hot 97.

In May, Star was fired by Power’s parent company Clear Channel Radio after his on-air rant, which included remarks that Clear Channel called “wholly unacceptable” – including comments about Envy’s wife, Gia Casey, and sexually abusive threats against their daughter.  Star was arrested by detectives from the Hate Crimes Unit two days later.

At the time Benjamin Brafman, Star’s lawyer, said his client had apologized for the comments, but added they were the culmination of a long-running verbal battle that had "spiraled out of control."
