LEEZY TO TICKLE THE IVORIES AT ASIAN GALA?: Secretary of State rumored to perform a piano recital during annual security meeting.(July 28, 2006)
*Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was trying to keep it a secret, but word eventually got out that she may perform a piano recital during the annual gala of Asia's top security meeting, The ASEAN Regional Forum. This is the same gathering where two years ago former Secretary of State Colin Powell famously sang “YMCA.” The ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Forum – during which foreign ministers from the 26-nations in the group meet to discuss security – includes a traditional dinner where the world’s top diplomats are allowed to loosen up a bit and poke fun at themselves via skits and musical routines. Rice, a classically trained pianist, is expected to perform a work from one of her favorite composers, who include Brahms and Shostakovich, the New Straits Times reported. Kuala Lumpur-based diplomats tell AFP they were expecting a Rice recital, but that the delegations were attempting to keep details of their acts under wraps after months of planning and rehearsals. "I'm sworn to secrecy on this one," one diplomat told AFP. "We're all keeping each other in suspense about this. It's all under wraps for everyone, people don't like to reveal their performance and it's all a sensitive issue." Speak Out
