MALACO TO HONOR CARAVANS REUNION WITH GALA RECEPTION AT GMWA: Maurette Brown Clark to host

    Gospel royalty will grace the stage at the 39th Annual National GMWA Convention in Dallas, TX (held August 12-18) at a gala reception and salute sponsored by their label, Malaco Music Group. 

      The legendary Caravans will be performing songs from and promoting their forthcoming CD release, "Paved the Way"  their forty year reunion recording. The Queen of Gospel Music"  Ms. Albertina Walker will be joined by  elite group members Dorothy Norwood, “The World's Greatest Gospel Storyteller," Deloris Washington, “The Sweet Songbird” of gospel music, and Inez Andrews “The High Priestess.” As a collective they have been dubbed "The Greatest Group of All Time."

      Their unwavering contributions to gospel music will be recognized with a lavish reception, "Malaco Records Night: A Salute to 'The Greatest Group of All Time,' The Caravans" which will be held on Sunday, August 13, at the Adams Mark Hotel in the elegant Dallas Ballroom from 9:00 pm-10-:30 pm. where the Caravans will sing for the first time at the convention.

      Taking her rightful place, the "Princess of Praise & Worship," Maurette Brown Clark will be singing, signaling her re-emergence.  In addition to hosting duties the AIR Gospel artist will perform selections from her forthcoming release "The Dream" to be released in October, 2006. Several artists will pay tribute to the musical predecessors including  Carolyn Traylor, Da Minista, the first Gospel Hip Hop artist signed to Malaco Records, Euclid Gray (from Tyler Perry's play "Meet The Browns,") Mosie Burks of The Mississippi Mass Choir and Prince Yelder & The Disciples For Christ.

      A special press conference will be held for the Caravans at the convention Tuesday, August 15 at 1:30 p.m. in Room A305 in the Dallas Convention Center downtown (650 S. Griffin Street).
