MADISON CHASE FITNESS: Destiny happens daily!(August 3, 2006)
*Everyday you are blessed to wake up, you take action to move closer or further away from your destiny. Ask yourself these important questions. 1.Which direction are you moving in? Are you doing something every day to help you move closer to your health/fitness or career goals? Are you preparing your meals or going out to eat every day? Discipline in health and fitness affects every area of your life. If you are not taking positive action towards your fitness goals it can only mean you are stagnant or sitting still. Or it can mean you have not made any plans to move in the direction to complete your goals. 2.What are my personal health and fitness goals? 3. Have you taken the time to write and post your realistic goals? How can you ever know where you are going if you can’t see it? Whatever motivates you, post it, and surround yourself with positive feedback. If looking like Tina Turner, Madonna or Janet Jackson were so easy, everyone would do it. I was recently teaching a class, and after class a student came up to me and asked, “ What is your secret? “ I said the secret is hard work, discipline and consistency. Would I love to eat carrot cake, chocolate chip cookies, and butter pecan ice cream everyday? Of course I would, but I make choices, every single day. I think about what my future self will look like. I want to be fit like Tina Turner, Janet Jackson, and Madonna when I am 40,50 and 60 years old. Yes I do eat carrot cake and cookies every now and then, but it is a rare choice. 3. Are you learning from the choices? Tony Robbins tells a great story of how his mother prevented him from enjoying alcohol. He wanted to drink like his father so she reluctantly agreed and said he could drink the entire six-pack at the age of 10. After the 1st beer he was literally sick to his stomach. When he began drinking the 2nd beer he vomited all over the remaining beers. To this day you can imagine what Mr. Robbins thinks about beer. I share that story with you to hopefully help you make different choices on things we know are not good for us, but we continue to do them, because it has become a habit.
In order for you to learn anything, you have to start by first knowing that you don’t know everything and then you can be open to receive new information. Be open to learn new ways to cook. Yes I love good home cooked country fried meals but I am open to healthy alternatives. Before you can change your destiny, you must first change your mindset. Give yourself credit for being open to making improvements. Start small, so that you can be consistent with the small improvements. Once you have mastered the small changes, the large changes will come. But remember Rome was not built over night and neither will your new body.
