WHOOPI MAKES NICE WITH RIVALS OPIE & ANTHONY: Actress surprises morning team with unannounced visit.
*Whoopi Goldberg subscribes to the motto “kill ‘em with kindness.”
The actress and host of the Clear Channel-syndicated “Wake Up with Whoopi” had been hounded by rival jocks Opie and Anthony, whose syndicated morning show from New York’s WKTU also airs on XM Satellite Radio.
After a week of dissing Whoopi, including calling her the b-word, telling her to go back to Hollywood and urging their listeners to harass her, the “Ghost” star showed up at WKTU’s studios unannounced to pay the morning team a personal visit.
According to the New York Daily News, Opie and Anthony welcomed her into the studio with open arms and the three sat down for a friendly on-air chat.
"I'm sorry I called you a b****," Opie said. Later, sensing the end of their long-running Whoopi-bashing, Opie told Goldberg: "You just took away all the fun.”
Anthony asked: “Who the hell we gonna rag on now?"
