MADISON CHASE FITNESS: Prepare today to meet your tomorrow.(August 24, 2006)
*Excellence! What is excellence? How do you achieve it? What is your personal definition of excellence? Is excellence something that just happens? Is excellence a combination of luck and just good genes? Did Michael Jordan just wake up one day and land a perfectly mastered one arm tongue out slam dunk? No, Michael spent years and years practicing day after day on the basics. He shot free throws over and over again before he worked his way up to the famous dunk. Bill Gates a billionaire, who never finished Harvard but was passionate about computer programming. He began preparing for his future the day he left Harvard to devote his energy to Microsoft. Is Oprah an over night success? Oprah’s definition of success is when preparation meets opportunity. For Beginners: If you have never worked out and are a little intimidated, just start walking 20 minutes a day for 2 times a week. After successfully walking for 20 minutes a day for 2 times a week increase 20 minutes to 30 minutes and the following week walk 3 times a week. The fourth week add a jump rope for 2 minutes and try doing 6 –10 push ups. For Intermediate to Advance: Start a walk run combination for 30- 45 minutes 3 times per week for 2 weeks. By week three you should feel stronger and able to add 15 minutes. Week 4 add a jump rope for 5-10 minutes and try doing 15-20 push ups. Plan your meals and food and nutrition so you are never forced to eat on the run. Prepare your meals the evening before the next day. Add protein with chicken, or fish. No fried foods are ever conducive for a weight loss program, unless you are shaking and baking. Add fresh fruits and vegetables. Have a glass of water before and after each meal. The most important thing is to remember that preparation takes time, energy and planning. Plan your meals, schedule your workouts so that each day you are closer to reaching your goals.
