THE JOURNAL OF STEFFANIE RIVERS: The Courage To Succeed(September 19, 2006)
*The fear of failure keeps us from success. Why else would so many people spend their time working jobs they don’t like and in relationships with people they don’t love? It seems millions of people take the safe way out. Remember when you used to play the game “That’s my car” and “That’s my house?” Time and experience teaches us that getting what we want out of life is easier said than done. It doesn’t mean you should give up your dreams and become a dead man walking. To live a better life you must be willing to give up what you have but don’t want for what you want but don’t have. The fact is most people are not willing to take that risk, and they pass on their attitudes of underachievement to their children. It starts when parents spend their child’s formative years teaching him to walk and talk. But as soon as that mission is accomplished, parents flip the script and spend the adolescent years telling him to shut-up and sit down. It’s bad enough when we let our dreams fade away, but when we emotionally rob our children of the pursuit of happiness we might as well put a curse on our family tree. It’s never too late to live your life with passion and purpose. Since you have to think anyway you might as well think Big! God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
