*Aaron McGruder announced that he would begin a six-month break from his daily comic strip “The Boondocks” on March 27th. One look at the calendar tells us that the hiatus is due to end tomorrow, but the artist has yet to announce when, or even if he’ll be returning.

McGruder’s boss says he’s busy doing other things and hasn’t found “the right time” to make a decision on the strip’s future, reports the Associated Press.

In early March, McGruder wrote a letter to the newspapers that carry his strip, stating: "Every well needs occasional refreshing." Getting away from the deadline pressure of doing a daily comic will do him some good, McGruder said. Greg Melvin, his editor at Universal Press Syndicate, supported his decision. Only now, a big question mark hovers over McGruder’s return.

Around the time of his hiatus, McGruder was also working on a television version of “The Boondocks,” which follows two young African American brothers who move from Chicago to the suburbs to live with their grandfather.
