      The retired Dallas Cowboys champion and his partner/trainer Cheryl Burke out-danced actor Mario Lopez and pro twirler Karina Smirnoff

      Bishop T.D. Jakes released this congratulatory statement on behalf of The Potter’s House Church, where Smith is a member:

       “I want to congratulate our friend and congregant Emmitt Smith for his professional dance splendor and Cheryl Burke for winning ABC’s Dancing with the Stars.  Whether he is breaking tackles or break dancing, Emmitt strives to be excellent in all that he does.  He is a naturally talented and competitive athlete, proving that with this win.  We are proud of him for bringin his infamous Hall of Fame nimble moves from the football field to the dance floor, to the hearts and minds of millions of people nationwide.”

      Walking away with the winning disco ball, Smith seemed to enjoy wearing boogie shoes just as much as football cleats.
