STEPHEN BALDWIN IS AN 'EXTREME' EVANGELIST: Actor is going all out to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ(November 22, 2006)
Stephen Baldwin, the youngest of the Baldwin Brothers, has laid down his Hollywood bad boy ways to follow Jesus. In an interview with Dan Harris on ABC's Nightline he explained that 9/11 forced him to re-think his lifestyle. Baldwin is now an evangelist. For a man who partied hard and has snorted cocaine for sport, his night-and-day change comes as a surprise to Hollywood and has already been spoofed on Mad TV. For those who are focusing on his past he has one thing to say: "None of that matters now 'cus I'm living for God." With the same energy that he used self-destructively Baldwin is now just as passionate about building up the lives of what he calls the "gnarly" or outcasts, sinners. He is "extremely" involved in the Evangelical youth movement as an Extreme Sports Evangelist. He says of his left of center ministry method, that he's being like Jesus who hung out in unexpected places and "Its' time to get back to that aggressive apostolic mentality." So, after youth in helmets and knee pads wow the tattooed crowd by flipping through the sky on BMX bikes and skateboards the baby Baldwin boy tells the story of his conversion. He convincingly reveals the importance of the change he made in his life like there's no tomorrow. "The urgency is Jesus is coming back," he says matter of factly. Baldwin cited three major events (9/11, the tsunamis and hurricane Katrina) that he believes prophetically foreshadow Christ's return and is totally committed to reaching youth who may otherwise be ignored. At the end of the show he does an open altar call and lays hands and prays for those who decide they want to accept Jesus Christ is coming back For more on his conversion and ministry, read an excerpt from his auto-biography, "The Unusual Suspect" at http://www.stephenbaldwin.com.
