GAYLE KING CLARIFIES HER N-WORD COMMENTS: She says Oprah is not one of her aforementioned ‘closest friends’ who uses the word.

      *After the media picked up Gayle King’s comments to her XM Satellite Radio audience about using the N-word around her “closest friends,” folks began to think that she was referring to her best friend Oprah Winfrey, who despises the word in any context.

      "I was not talking about Oprah, Stedman [Graham] or Maya [Angelou], King told the New York Post’s Page Six.  "Maya will ask people to leave her home if they use that word.

      “People act like I have no other friends than Oprah . . . I am starting to rethink [the use of the N-word]. I no longer think that [its use] is a good thing . . . Oprah's whole thing is [that] words have power, and I am mortified that this would be out there with her name attached to it when it's not true."
