JAMIE FOXX MAKING SIRIUS POWER MOVES: Actor forms new company; launches show on Sirius satellite. *Jamie Foxx is stepping up his business hustle with the launch of two new ventures, a company designed to develop and nurture songwriters, and an urban lifestyle channel for Sirius satellite radio. "Music has always been a key part of my life and my work," Foxx said. "The Foxxhole will break new ground in comedy, blurring the lines between stand-up, sketch, and music," said Foxx. "Sirius Satellite Radio gives me the opportunity to create urban entertainment and programming like you have never heard on the radio." Marcus King, who has produced such Foxx projects as The Jamie Foxx Show, Jamie Foxx: Unpredictable, Genius: A Night for Ray Charles, and other television series and specials, will also serve as executive producer. According to the column: “The Oscar winner requested Belvedere, plastic pour spouts and pre-made, hot-pink, sex-on-the-beach mix. Flack Lindsay Zantop, who reps Belvedere, said: "Curious publicist that I am, I [asked] why the need for the pour spouts when he has a dedicated waitress?

HOLES POKED IN LATEST OBAMA RUMOR: CNN investigates reports that senator attended a Muslim madrassa as a child. *You knew it would only be a matter of time before negative stories began to mysteriously surface about Sen. Barack Obama since announcing his intention to run for president. As the latest rumor continues to pick up steam, CNN has come forward to declare the account untrue. Insight Magazine reported on its Web site last week that people in Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s camp discovered information that the Illinois Democrat attended a "madrassa," a Muslim religious school known for teaching the most fundamentalist form of Islam. While Obama lived in Indonesia as a child, from 1967 to 1971, with his mother and stepfather and has acknowledged attending a Muslim school, an aide said it was not a madrassa. According to CNN, Insight attributed the information in its article to an unnamed source, who said it was discovered by "researchers connected to Senator Clinton." A spokesman for Clinton, who declared last weekend that she is also seeking a White House bid, denied that her campaign was the source of the allegations. Obama agrees, and has called the story "an obvious right-wing hit job." CNN’s correspondent in Jakarta, Indonesia investigated the claims by visiting the school in question, which Obama attended from 1969 to 1971.
*Premiering tonight at 8 on PBS is the special “Oprah’s Roots,” an expanded look at the family history of talk show billionaire Oprah Winfrey with host, Professor Henry Louis Gates. Jakes. Tonight’s program digs deeper into Winfrey’s ancestry and uncovers new and interesting insights, including her paternal grandfather’s involvement in the Civil Rights movement, the life of her great-great-grandfather Constantine Winfrey, a former slave, and the revelation that singer Mavis Staples is her distant cousin. The special will be accompanied by the publication of Gates’ book, “Finding Oprah’s Roots: Finding Your Own,” available now on www.shoppbs.org and in bookstores.
*Fox approved production Monday on a new drama series about the few policemen in New Orleans who stayed on their post during the chaos and disorder immediately following of Hurricane Katrina. Also, ABC has canceled a post-Katrina cop show penned by John Eisendrath ("Alias") for director Gary Fleder. The network also passed on a collaboration between Stephen Godchaux ("Dead Like Me") and Cary Brokaw 'DREAMGIRLS' LANDS MOSTS OSCAR NOMINATIONS: But Snubbed for Best Picture *How do you explain a movie getting the most Oscar nominations yet being overlooked when it comes to Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Actress? That's precisely the quandary the Academy finds itself in after announcing that Dreamgirls landed eight nominations but none in any major categories. Yes, Jennifer Hudson was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, but anybody who saw the film knows that hers was really a lead role. Reached in London, Jennifer had this to say about the good news: "Thank you to the Academy! I am blown away by this honor. I feel like I have reached the impossible. This is proof that faith is powerful. Thank you!" Eddie Murphy was nominated for Best Supporting Actor, but otherwise, Dreamgirls was only recognized for its Art, Costumes, Music and Sound. Despite the apparent snub, the Academy must be credited for the overall ethnic diversity of its picks. A quarter of the acting nominations went to blacks (Hudson, Murphy, Will Smith, Forest Whitaker and Djimon Hounsou), two went to Hispanics (Penelope Cruz and Adriana Barraza), and one went to an Asian (Rinko Kikuchi). Plus, lots of other Latinos were nominated, such as director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Babel), and scriptwriters Guillermo Arriaga (Babel) Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth) and Alfonso Cuaron (Children of Men). British actresses fared well, as usual, garnering three of the five Best Actress accolades (Kate Winslet and Dames Helen Mirren and Judi Dench). Conspicuously-absent among the nominees was Jack Nicholson who turned in another trademark, great performance in The Departed. The 79th Academy Awards will be broadcast live on Sunday, February 25th from the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. For a complete list of nominees, see: http://www.eurweb.com/story/eur31022.cfm

The Chairman’s Award is chosen by NAACP Chairman Julian Bond and is presented to those who have exhibited "distinguished service and dignified representation of people of color." NAOMI CAMPBELL NOW SAYS SHE’S SORRY FOR ASSAULT: Remorse part of supermodel’s new spiritual program of prayer and meditation. *Naomi Campbell tells the New York Daily News that she regrets ever assaulting her former maid with a cell phone, and not because it landed her in community service and anger management classes. "I'm remorseful and regretful. I'm trying to live my life and do some things for charity,” she told the paper Monday. The 36-year-old is also reportedly undergoing a daily program of meditation and prayer in a bid to curb her nasty temper. “I'm taking my punishment, and I accept that. I've accepted my responsibility and that's that,” Campbell said. “I have no idea what (community service) I'll do. Whatever they tell me to do, I'll do with my integrity, and that's it. "I work on myself daily. I work on my program of meditation and prayer and try to stick to it. It's important to me."
*Super-producer Timbaland has been accused of jacking a beat from a Finnish man without permission for Nelly Furtado's track "Do It," which appears on her latest album “Loose.” A YouTube user named TimbalandRips posted a video claiming that the Virginia musician stole a melody from a track called “Acidjazzed Evening,”
*Joanne Schwartzbaum (Cara Buono) is a housewife who appears to be in the midst of a mid-life crisis. Something's wrong, despite her having an appreciative husband, Brian (David Lansbury) and a couple of well-behaved kids (Quinn Shephard and Jonah Meyerson). Clueless about the source of her discontent, Joanne just wanders around her Brooklyn home depressed, almost as if sleepwalking while doing her daily routine. She finally snaps out of that semi-catatonic state the day Brian comes home and finds her lying unconscious outside on the deck. Not buying his wife's explanation that she's had a close encounter with an alien, he sends her to a psychiatrist (Laura Esterman) who misdiagnoses the malady as Manic Obsessive Anxiety Disorder. But the medication doesn't help, so Joanne joins a UFO support group, hoping to find an explanation for her strange hallucinations and for the odd markings somehow burned into her side. At the very first meeting, she sees most of the other members as kooks and losers, with the exception of Abraham Kanga (Isaach De Bankole), an African street merchant. The plot thickens as soon as the two discover that they have the identical brand on their bodies. Joanne finds herself inexplicably drawn to this brother who's not merely from another continent but perhaps from another planet. Who knows? Maybe she's actually from elsewhere also. And their endeavor to unravel that mystery sits at the center of From Other Worlds, a lighthearted, sci-fi comedy written and directed by Barry Strugatz (She-Devil and Married to the Mob). What this low-budget B-movie lacks in production values it more than makes up for with charm via a gifted cast capable of executing a clever script which keeps you guessing right up to the very end. For when sparks start to fly between Joanne and Abraham, one can't help but wonder whether she'll leave her family for this fellow she seems to be in simpatico with. And yet, there's still the bigger issue which must be addressed, namely, who is that alien (Joel de la Fuente) that keeps appearing, and what exactly does he want? Picture a campy cross of My Stepmother Is an Alien (1988) and The Brother from Another Planet (1984) in which you get to enjoy laughs galore, allusions to horror classics, and a timely social message as our heroes attempt to save the Earth from certain destruction. Yo, take me to your leader! Excellent (3.5 stars)

Procrastination has painful and costly consequences. It interferes with your professional, personal, financial and academic success. What has the thief of procrastination stolen from you? This is going to be a "break through" year for you. If you get started, you will reap the rewards. If you don't get started, you will reap the consequences. Looking at the big picture of what needs to be done can be overwhelming. Get the ball rolling by breaking your tasks into small steps. Let this be the day you decide to stop procrastinating, hesitating, stressing, blaming, avoiding or focusing on non-productive activity. Take your happiness out of the "lay- away." Find your strength, integrity and courage. Find your voice. Trust your decisions. Learn from your choices. Use your imagination. Trust your instincts. Pray for guidance and discernment. Scientist Newton gave the world the first law of motion which is, "An object at rest tends to stay at rest and an object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force." If you wait until you feel like doing the paperwork, making the call, exercising, etc., you may never get started. Don't wait until you think you have all the answers and courage to get started. Those things will come as you begin to take those steps. Once you make UP your mind, get UP and moving.
