GABRIELLE UNION RESPONDS TO DEREK JETER RUMORS: Actress says ‘As far as fake relationships go, I'm moving up.’
*Addressing recent rumors that she is dating New York Yankees playboy Derek Jeter, Gabrielle Union tells People magazine that she would be the first to shout the news from the rooftop, if only it were true.
"Trust me, if I were dating Derek Jeter, I would hold my own personal press conference to announce it to the world,” she told the magazine from a Super Bowl party in Miami on Thursday. “I'm actually getting a little nervous about when our fake breakup is coming."
Union says her mother was even pressing her about the rumored relationship, which was first reported last week by the New York Post’s Page Six after the two were spotted “flirting and dirty dancing” at a Bahamas nightclub.
"My mom asked me if he was coming for Easter, I said, 'Mom! I barely know him,'" Union said.
"I'm linked to a lot of people,” Union continued. “It'd be great to be dating Derek Jeter. As far as fake relationships go, I'm moving up."
Meanwhile, the 34-year-old actress gave up details about her upcoming ABC pilot “Football Wives,” a U.S. version of the popular British TV series.
"I play Chardonnay Lane, which is really funny. I was hoping for Pinot Grigio," said Union, whose marriage to NFL running back Chris Howard ended in 2005. "I was at one time a football wife, and there is a certain level of bonding that happens between women who are the wives of football players. We're having a lot of fun."
