*Although the only wardrobe malfunction during Prince’s Super Bowl halftime concert was his unraveling head scarf – which he eventually yanked off altogether – critics are claiming that the singer deliberately created an enlarged, X-rated image during the historic performance.

As soon as that big beige cloth flew up to create a silhouette of Prince playing his guitar, you knew it would be a matter of time before someone would comment on the phallic shadow it appeared to create  Remember, it was Prince who famously made his guitar ejaculate during performances back in the day, as well as in the film “Purple Rain.”

New York Daily News television critic David Bianculli swears Prince was up to his old tricks, calling the silhouette "a rude-looking shadow show" that "looked embarrassingly rude, crude and unfortunately placed."

On CBS's "The Late Late Show" Sunday night, host Craig Ferguson said of Prince: "He was obviously very happy to be there, wasn't he?"

Stephen Colbert reacted with mock outrage on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" Monday night: "They knew that they were dealing with a lustful, pansexual rock 'n' roll deviant," said Colbert, who joked that the sheet hid (not enhanced) Prince's "demonic guitar phallus."

CBS spokesman Dana McClintock said Tuesday that the network has received "very few" complaints on Prince's performance, which has been lauded by The Associated Press, the New York Times and USA Today — all of which noted the lack of controversy in this year's halftime show. AP Entertainment Writer Douglas J. Rowe wrote: "He delivered one of the best Super Bowl halftime shows — ever."
