      *HBO and Comcast will host the Richmond, VA premiere of HBO Films' “Life Support” on Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. at the historic Byrd Theatre. The film takes a look at the African-American community's HIV crisis through the eyes of a survivor played by Queen Latifah. Her character is a mother, and former addict who eventually becomes an AIDS activist. Noted writer/journalist Nelson George co-wrote the screenplay based on the true story of his sister, Andrea Williams, and also makes his directorial debut with the project. Williams will attend the Richmond premiere along with executive producer, Shelby Stone. “Life Support” airs on HBO On-Demand from Feb. 26 through March 5. It debuts Saturday, March 10 (8:00 p.m.) on HBO, with encores on March 10 (4:30 a.m.), 12 (2:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m.), 18 (2:15 p.m., 11:00 p.m.), 22 (1:00 p.m., 8:30 p.m.), 24 (8:30 a.m., 4:00 p.m.), 27 (10:00 a.m., 7:30 p.m.) and 29 (4:30 p.m., 12:30 a.m.).

      *Ghettophysics Entertainment presents the film "Will The Real Pimps and Hos Please Stand Up - Pimping the Multi-leveled Global Game," to be screened Friday and Saturday at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles. Featuring: Dr. Cornel West, KRS-One, Ice T, Too Short, Filmore Slim, D-Militant and Shang, the film is based on author E. Raymond Brown's socio-political satire and explores the complex dynamics of power in our modern world. The film will be shown Feb. 16 at 3:40 p.m. and Feb. 17 at 3:15 p.m. at Magic Johnson Theatres (3650 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.). Admission is $9.50 for adults.       *In celebration of Black History Month, the world famous Apollo Theater is proud to present its second Apollo Family Series event, “Raisin’ Cane: A Theatrical Portrait in Prose, Poetry and Jazz,” featuring stage, film and television star Jasmine Guy. The production re-captures the glory and the brilliance of the Harlem Renaissance and also features the Avery Sharpe Jazz Trio. The Apollo Family Series’ New York debut of “Raisin’ Cane” is part of a six week national tour.       *On Friday, February 23, six outstanding youth from around the country will gather in Las Vegas at Galaxy Theaters at Neonopolis to inspire students from Kermit R. Booker Elementary School during the Fitzgeralds 5th Anniversary Weekend. Kyle Massey, star of Disney Channel’s “That’s So Raven” spin-off, “Cory in the House,” and Camille Winbush who most recently starred as Vanessa on the FOX Television series, “The Bernie Mac Show,” will share their success stories with students while co-hosting the event. The six outstanding youth have either set world records, turned ideas into inventions, or become successful entrepreneurs; all before the age of 21.       *Eso Won books in Los Angeles will host book-signings this week for Rubee Dee and Amiri Baraka. One of our greatest actresses, Dee will sign and discuss “Selected Speeches & Writings” by her late husband and fellow actor Ossie Davis at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Baraka, one of our most distinguished writers, will read and sign “Tales of the Out & The Gone.” Featuring short fiction from the early 70's to the 21st century – most of which has never been published – “Tales” reflects the astounding evolution of America's most provocative literary minds.
