*Melanie Brown, the former Spice Girl who says she is carrying ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy’s child, was given a baby shower on Friday in a private bungalow at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
According to People magazine, the 31-year-old singer and about 30 guests celebrated the baby arrival next month with a cake in the shape of a woman's pregnant belly, and plenty of Dom Pérignon champagne to go around.
Murphy has denied that he is the father and plans to have the child take a blood test to prove the paternity. The “Dreamgirls” actor first questioned his paternity in December during an interview with a Dutch TV reporter.
"We're not together anymore," Murphy told the reporter when asked about his relationship with Brown. "And I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir." ‘
Later that day, Murphy attended the New York premiere of his film “Dreamgirls” with current girlfriend Tracey Edmonds.
