PARIS BENNETT ADDRESSES ‘IDOL’ COMMENTS: Pint-sized powerhouse tells Billboard she was ‘misunderstood.’(May 2, 2007)
*In an interview with Billboard.com to plug her new album “Princess P,” “American Idol” standout Paris Bennett addressed her controversial comments to a Minneapolis radio station in which she said she and other “Idol” vets voted for Sanjaya this season as a way to prove the show has nothing to do with talent. Bennett told the magazine the same thing that she told EUR’s Lee Bailey before her management representative objected to the question and shut down the interview. The Rockford, Ill., native stressed how grateful she is to the popular Fox show. "I'm not a sore loser by any means," Bennett explained to Billboard.com. "If it wasn't for 'American Idol,' I wouldn't be here. I give them much respect and honor. There's nothing bitter about the situation." As for her album, due May 8 on 306 Entertainment/TVT Records, the 18-year-old sings about such topics as relationships, family and friendships. "I'm an old soul," she said, "but on my album, I'm speaking for the young people and letting them know it is alright to have the will to dream."
