     *Queen Latifah has just been added to the summer season at California’s Napa Valley Opera House  (1030 Main Street, Napa), where she is expected to belt jazz standards, as well as blues, pop and R&B tunes.     

      The Oscar-nominated actress, who began her career as a rapper in the late eighties, will perform tracks from her latest CD, “The Dana Owens Album,” during her scheduled 8 p.m. July 12th performance at the landmark venue.       

      Latifah’s visit will be one of only three West Coast appearances this summer, according to the Napa Valley Opera House Web site. For tickets, priced at either $98 or $93, call (707) 226.7372.     

      The entertainer, born Dana Owens, is currently in New Orleans shooting the caper film “Mad Money” opposite Katie Holmes and Diane Keaton.
