*Cuba Gooding Jr. will produce and star in the upcoming teen film “Harold,” which has been described by one of its producers as “an edgy comedy in the vein of ‘Napoleon Dynamite.’”

Gooding, a supporting actor Oscar winner for “Jerry Maguire,” will play a friendly high school janitor who befriends a prematurely balding young teen student and helps him survive merciless teasing from classmates.

Veteran "Saturday Night Live" writer T. Sean Shannon will make his directorial debut from a script written by him and Greg Fields.

In the meantime, Gooding is working on the film “Daddy Day Camp,” a sequel to “Daddy Day Care” directed by actor Fred Savage (“Wonder Years”) and starring Gooding in the role vacated by Eddie Murphy. The film is scheduled for release on Aug. 8.
