*To almost no one's surprise, it's all over between "Grey's Anatomy" and its star Isaiah Washington. The embattled actor who used the "F-word" to address a coworker last fall — will not return to ABC's No. 1 drama when it returns for a fourth season next September.

According to Eonline.com, publicist Howard Bragman said that Washington got a call earlier in the day informing him that he was "not invited back to the show next season," prompting this "Network" (the movie) inspired response from the actor: "I’m mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore."

According to published reports, ABC-TV declined to renew Washington's option to play the character Preston Burke after he created negative press attention this season because of his behavior both on and off the set.

Additionally, the network's decision was likely based on a pattern of "interesting" behavior by Washington that goes back as far as 1997 on the set of the TV show "High Incident."

Last fall, Washington, 43, was accused of calling fellow actor T.R. Knight a "faggot" during an on-set incident. He repeated the slur at the Golden Globes in January. Within days of the incident becoming public, Knight announced he was gay.

Washington repudiated his anti-gay comments in recent a public service announcement for GLAAD, saying that "words have power," which aired during a repeat of Grey's in May. But apparently it wasn't enough to save his job.
