*Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles is celebrating her 21st birthday at two huge parties this month. The first was scheduled to go down yesterday (July 1) in her Houston hometown; the second is planned for Friday (July 6) in New Orleans, where her sister will perform at the Essence Music Festival. Solange’s New Orleans event, beginning 11 p.m. at Generations Hall (310 Andrew Higgins Dr.), is described as a “celebration of creativity, individuality, music, art, fashion, dance and expression during the Essence Festival.”

*The 7/7/07 Live Earth event has added some performers. Xzibit will join the crew in Tokyo, while Lenny Kravitz has been tapped to headline the installment in Rio. The global event, launched by former Vice President Al Gore, is designed to promote awareness of global warming through concerts held on seven continents within 24 hours.
