*In September, Russell Simmons begins taping a new season of his landmark show “Def Comedy Jam” in Los Angeles following a deal that brings the series back to HBO for two more seasons, reports Allhiphop.com. Simmons would not reveal the host chosen for the upcoming season.

*Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas recently spoke to Billboard magazine about working with Michael Jackson on the singer’s comeback album. "Man, he still sings like a bird. He could go anywhere,” said will.i.am. “We have a real opportunity to do something here. It's either going to be really big or nobody's going to care. Ain't no middle ground on this one."

*Alicia Keys says she’s looking to team with Jack and Meg White of the White Stripes for her new album. Their current album, “Icky Thump,” is her favorite of the year. She says: "I'm dying to work with them. Me and The White Stripes are going to do something crazy. We tried to work something out for this record, but the timing got a little crazy and it didn't come off. I know we can do something next time around. I'm dying to work with Queens Of The Stone Age, too. Both bands have a very simple approach to music, but it has a soul to it that I totally get. If we did something together, it would be incredible."
