     Nominations were announced recently for the 2007 BT digital music awards. The ceremony will be held at North London's Roundhouse on October 2 and well be televised.

     All genres are represented including urban artistes such as Rihanna who is up for two nominations - Artist of the Year and best mobile campaign. In the latter category she faces competition from Ludacris and UK grime artist Wiley.

     The best urban artist in association with MySpace Urban is another hot category.

     UK soul singer Beverley Knight is up against the silky smooth Lemar, the
energetic grime star Lethal Bizzel, Stanton Warriors and Wiley.
  
     Other categories include Best Pop Artist in association with TV Hits, Best Rock/Indie Artist, Best Electronic Artist or DJ in association with DJ, Best Podcast in association with BT Podshow (nominees include Mark Ronson's Official video podcast), Best Radio Station, best Music Store, Best Music Magazine, Best Music Community, Best Unofficial Music site, best Official Music site, Best Music Blog, Best Artist Promotion in association with Yahoo! Music, Artist of the Year in association with Packard Bell, Breakthrough Artist of the Year in association with BBC 6Music, Best Digital Service, Best Innovation in association with 4Music, and Best Music Hardware in association with Stuff Magazine.

     The public vote for twelve of the twenty awards. Winners from last year include Lily Allen. The awards are designed to represent the growing and increasingly important digital music sector.
 
     In 2006 over half a million people voted online in the UK's only awards dedicated to digital music entertainment.
