ERIC BENET SENDS WELL WISHES TO HALLE: Singer releases statement in response to baby news.
*Eric Benet, the former husband of actress Halle Berry, has released a statement to People magazine offering words of encouragement to his ex and her new man regarding the announcement of their coming baby.
"I wish Halle and her partner a healthy baby and all the happiness in the world," said Benét in the statement released Thursday by his manager, Lynne Malone.
Berry announced Tuesday that she was three months pregnant with a child from boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, a 32-year-old model she met two years ago during a Versace ad shoot in Los Angeles.
Benét proposed to Berry in 1999 and married the actress two years later. But the relationship soon went south as Berry accused the R&B star of adultery and being a sex addict. The couple separated in October 2003 and was officially divorced six months later.
