*Kia Vaughn, a member of the Rutgers University basketball team targeted by Don Imus, has withdrawn a defamation lawsuit that was filed against the radio host last month.

The athlete had accused Imus of damaging her reputation when he referred to her team as “nappy headed hoes” during his syndicated show. The lawsuit also targeted various media outlets that broadcast Imus' program.

Marti McKenzie, a spokeswoman for Vaughn's attorney, Richard Ancowitz, said in a statement that Vaughn had chosen to focus on her education at New Jersey's Rutgers University as a journalism major and as an athlete with the basketball team.

"Her strong commitments to both have influenced her decision to withdraw the lawsuit at this time," the statement said.
