KIMBERLY LOCKE SPEAKS VIA HER BLOG: Singer Clarifies Reunion Comments.

I just wanted to clarify that recently during an interview regarding my "Christmas" album with Billboard, I was asked about any fellow Idols that I may speak with.

I mentioned that I had spoken with only Clay and Ruben because I do try my best to keep in touch with them.  I went on to say in that interview that I had spoken with them about a reunion concert tour idea and that Ruben and Clay were game for it because they told me they were.

In fact, in my last conversation with Clay he suggested that my manager and agents contact his.  They did.  And they have spoken. And in telling Billboard we were "in talks" and "Now it's up to our agents and managers to book it," I was being truthful in the information that I had received.

I told Billboard I was "hopeful" that the tour would come together.  (That didn't get printed.)  In no way did I imply that we were all committed to this tour idea. So contrary to Clay feeling "unfortunate," that the story "found it's way to the press unauthorized," it was not "unauthorized."

It was put out there by me, who conceived the touring idea and called my friends for their involvement.  If Clay had chosen to return my phone calls over the last two months, he would perhaps not feel as "unfortunate," and he would have been made aware that I mentioned it to Billboard.

I want to thank the fans of Clay and Ruben and my own who were positive and supportive of this idea, which again, was just an idea.  It will now be put to rest.

I had the honor of performing on Monday (Sept 10) for a Gladys Knight tribute in Beverly Hills.  If you would have told me 5 years ago, I'd be singing in front of an orchestra, sharing the stage with Melissa Etheridge, Smokey Robinson and Johnny Mathis, I would have thought you were crazy!

When she took the stage to accept the award, the Ella, named after Ella Fitzgerald, she told a story of how they first met backstage at a show they were both performing in.  Gladys said that when Ella found out that she was about to go on the stage to sing, "Midnight Train to Georgia,"  Ella told Gladys to wait till she got a seat in the audience because "that 'Georgia' song is my song, girl."  Ella became a mentor and a supportive friend to Gladys.  Gladys went on to talk about the Motown days and how there was no rivalry and that every artist worked together, to support each other and make great music.  She said that people like Smokey and Johnny Mathis were always friends to her - and that there was "never any of this backstabbing rivalry going on in the business today."  She said every singer and musician supported and helped each other, always. Sometimes I wish I were born back then.  I have been lucky to receive great words of wisdom from some very classy ladies like Gladys, Patti LaBelle, Wynonna, Freda Payne, Thelma Houston... Strong women with a wonderful history of lessons learned.  So I thank them.

In the meantime, I wanted to thank you for your support with Band of Gold!  It was in the top 20 on Billboard AC within 3 weeks - now 17.  My fingers are crossed that will go top 10 again making it my 6TH!  Wait till you hear the remixes!  The clubs are gonna love it.  I'm really happy with what the remixers turned in.  Now that the cats-out-of-the-bag with my "Christmas" album, I can't wait to sing it live on the road with Dave Koz.  He was at the Gladys tribute so we got to hang and talk about what we want to do for the first time since I signed on.  I'll be singing some of my own material, some songs from my holiday album and songs from his "At The Movies" CD, which is AMAZING!  I hope you'll come see us on the road.  It's gonna be a party! And hey, guess who's this-close to reaching her 40 pound weight loss goal?  Thank you, Jenny Craig!

     One Love, KL
