DID MEL B LEAVE BABY WITH THE HELP TO ELOPE?: Singer denies housekeeper’s account to Star magazine.
*A rep for Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown has used the word “fictitious” to describe a report in Star magazine that she left her newborn baby with the maid to run off and marry Stephen Belafonte.
Tonia Lamere told Star she was working at the singer’s Los Angeles house earlier this year when Brown suddenly jetted off to Las Vegas to get married, leaving her then two-month-old daughter Angel Iris and eight-year-old Phoenix Chi behind to be cared for by Lamere.
"One evening of baby-sitting turned into four days! The child was sick, there was no nanny, and when Mel called, she never even asked about the baby," Lamere told Star.
But Brown - who is currently embroiled in a child support battle with actor Eddie Murphy after it was proven he fathered Angel Iris - has dismissed the allegations and insists the former employee is just looking to make a quick profit.
A rep for Brown tells the New York Daily News: "Melanie is a hands-on mother completely dedicated to the upbringing of her children and the well-being of her entire family. Any fictitious accusations to the contrary stem from greedy people looking to make a buck."
