*Brush High School in Ohio's South Euclid-Lyndhurst School District is one of three high schools in the nation recognized by The Schott Foundation for its African-American male graduation rate.

For several years, the rate has been at least 95%, while Ohio's big city graduation rates have hovered around 60%, according to local NBC affiliate, WKYC.

The South Euclid-Lyndhurst district credits its success with having high expectations for all of its students, while also acknowledging that children have different learning styles.

Brush High was in competition with 15,000 other schools across the United States. The award will be presented to the school on Oct. 9.

The mission of The Schott Foundation for Public Education is to develop and strengthen a broad-based and representative movement to achieve fully resourced preK-12 public education in Massachusetts and New York.
