*Steve Harvey's 5th Annual Hoodie Awards is going national for the first time in its five years of honoring local businesses, religious and community leaders, churches and high schools for their contributions and excellence within various neighborhoods.

The show, which took place earlier this month in Las Vegas, makes its nationwide television debut Thanksgiving Day on the BET J network, with rebroadcasts to take place over the weekend.

Harvey tells EUR's Lee Bailey that the award ceremony has gotten bigger each year.

"The event is now a three day [affair]," he explained. "It used to be just the Hoodie Awards at night. Now it's the Freedom Friday party the night before with 5,000 people. Then we had a bowling tournament from midnight to three in the morning."

The traditional "red carpet" was changed to blue for the evening, "because we got sponsorship now," Harvey said with a wink.

"Then we got the Steve Harvey golf tournament," he continued. "So we got a lot going on."

Celebrity presenters included Mo’Nique, Niecy Nash, Tank, Musiq Soulchild, Marvin Sapp, Tichina Arnold, Montel Williams, Robert Townsend, George Wallace, The O’Jays, Anthony Hamilton, Cupid, Stephen A. Smith, Yolanda Adams, Tonex, Salli Richardson, Kym Whitley, Cassie Davis, and LaVan Davis. Marvin Sapp, Robin Thicke, Tank and Chuck Brown entertained the crowd with their spectacular performances.

“I’m very excited that families across the country will have an opportunity to enjoy the excitement of the Hoodie Awards in the comfort of their own homes,” said Harvey in a statement. “This award show is like none you’ve ever scene before. It was more like a family reunion with music from our culture as the backdrop.”
