*Starting today, Def Jam president Jay-Z will hover in the realm beyond terrestrial radio with a week-long takeover of Sirius Satellite's Hip-Hop Nation channel 40, the company announced Friday.

The temporary side gig is in conjunction with tomorrow's release of his new album "American Gangster," which borrows its title and inspiration from the new film starring Denzel Washington about Harlem drug lord Frank Lucas.

"Jay-Z is one of the preeminent creative forces in the music industry," Sirius executive Scott Greenstein said in a statement. "Over the last decade, he has truly changed the face of hip-hop and music culture."

The rapper's Sirius takeover, dubbed "Jay-Z Nation," will feature music from his albums and songs by his favorite hip-hop artists.
