SINGLETON TO UPDATE 'A-TEAM' FOR BIG SCREEN: Film based on Mr. T series will lose corniness and replace Vietnam setting.(December 13, 2007)
*Latino Review is reporting that John Singleton has signed on to direct a feature film adaptation of "The A-Team" for Fox Studios. The original television show, which co-starred Mr. T and ran on NBC from 1983-86, centered around a group of US Army Special Forces veterans who fought in Vietnam and help innocent folks in need, despite being hunted by the military for a crime they didn't commit. The new "A-Team" will be updated from the Vietnam era and reflect contemporary issues and politics. The tone is said to be less camp and more action oriented – in the vein of "Die Hard" and "Lethal Weapon." "Not to denigrate the TV show, but nobody ever died," said show creator Stephen J. Cannell. "We drove cars off cliffs and people got out and walked away. We're not going to do that (in the movie)." Speak Out
