     *Before there was a T-Pain, there was Nate Dogg – the hip-hop-flavored singer who at one time seemed to appear in every other hip hop record on radio.

      MTV News is confirming that the popular singer and childhood friend of Snoop Dogg suffered a stroke on Dec. 19 and was hospitalized for seven days before being released the day after Christmas.

      Rumors had circulated that the artist had a heart attack, but a coordinator for Nate's recently-formed gospel choir, Innate Praise, told MTV that he was hospitalized with symptoms of a stroke.

       He is currently in a medical-rehab facility to assist him in his recovery.
