*Actor Marlon Wayans, who has made headlines in recent weeks for securing various film and television projects with his famous brothers Shawn and Keenen Ivory, has signed on to star in the upcoming live action film "G.I. Joe," reports Variety. The Paramount film, based on the popular line of military-themed toys created by Hasbro, will be set 10 years in the future. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is currently in talks to play the best friend of field commander Duke Hauser, who is generally regarded by fans as the G.I. Joe unit's poster boy because he is usually the most identifiable character. The role of Hauser has not yet been cast. Wayans will play Ripcord, the G.I. Joe unit's leader. As previously reported, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has already been cast in the project along with Rachel Nichols, Sienna Miller and Said Taghmaoui. The Stephen Sommers-directed film begins shooting next month in Los Angeles for a scheduled release date of Aug. 7, 2009.
