ITTY BITTY BITS: Murphy in Vegas; Gnarls Barkley CD; Johansson 'engaged to Obama'; Snoop loves 'OLTL'; Chris Brown & Rihanna?; Dog Chapman at CORE event.(January 28, 2008)
*Eddie Murphy is moving on from his brief "marriage" to Tracey Edmonds. As gossip continues to surround their sudden breakup, which took place before their official marriage even begin, the actor was spotted partying over the weekend at The Bank in the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas, according to TMZ.com. *Gnarls Barkley is nearly done with the recording of their sophomore album, which has yet to announce a title or release date. Confirmed for the project is a psychedelic soul track containing the Cee-Lo lyric, "Who's gonna save my soul now?" He told Billboard last summer: "Music is a natural mystic. This is not something that we contrived. It's truly something that we just can't explain, you know what I mean? So why try to explain it at all? It just is. I'm hoping that I don't fall out of grace with whatever I've done to deserve this to pass through me." *Actress Scarlett Johansson, who went public with her support of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama at the Iowa caucus earlier this month, joked to the Associated Press Thursday: "I am engaged ... to Barack Obama. My heart belongs to Barack, and that is who I am currently, finally, engaged to. Yes." The actress, who had just returned from a trip to visit soldiers in the Persian Gulf, was actually deflecting a question about rumors she might be engaged to actor-beau Ryan Reynolds. *Snoop Dogg is such a big fan of "One Life to Live" that he called producers with an offer to write and perform a new theme song for the soap opera. The New York Post's Page Six reports of the rapper being inspired by Mary J. Blige's recent return to the daytime drama in a two-part Valentine's Day episode set to air on Feb. 15 and 18. "I'm a huge fan of Snoop and I'd love to hear what he'd come up with," said the show's supervising music director, Paul Glass. As previously reported, Blige will perform two songs in Llanview at the surprise sweet sixteen party for Starr Manning, daughter of the town's bad-boy millionaire. *Chris Brown and Rihanna are rumored to be dating after several sightings of the pair together at public spots, including Barneys following his performance Wednesday night at Newark’s Prudential Center, reports New York Daily News' Rush & Malloy. Brown admitted having a crush on the Caribbean singer in the past, telling Us Weekly that they flirted at the 2007 VMAs but "we haven’t taken it to that next level yet." *Bounty hunter Duane (Dog) Chapman continued his racial rehab with an appearance at the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) MLK Awards dinner in New York last Monday. "I feel very well received and very proud to be here," he told the New York Daily News. "I joined the front lines of the organization. I went to the woodshed with God." Speak Out
