*Still looking for that last-minute sentiment for Mom this Mother's Day? Gospel duo Mary Mary and the folks at Colgate-Palmolive are offering an option to send a little love to moms via e-mail.

They've teamed up for the Colgate "Send her a Colgate Smile" promotion, featuring an exclusive song from Mary Mary appropriately titled "A Mother's Smile."

"We wrote a song and submitted it and they loved it," Mary Mary member Tina Campbell said of finding out about the opportunity to work with Colgate-Palmolive, "and everything just kind of went in fast forward."

After just two and a half weeks, Tina and Erica, sisters that make up the platinum-selling duo, wrote and recorded the song, and delivered it to Colgate.

"It was totally appropriate because we have such a great relationship with our mothers and we're mothers ourselves," Tina added. "Mother's Day is an extremely big deal for us."

Listen to 'A Mother's Smile' by Mary Mary:

There are nine siblings of the Campbell household and the two sisters told EUR's Lee Bailey that all the Campbell kids make an effort to be around there mom on Mother's Day.

"It was really great to write an exclusive song for them and it was easy to write because we have the greatest mother ever," Erica claimed.

"She's strong, she loving, she's kind. She's a great example of a woman, of a wife, of a mother. So we just thought about her and wrote a song."

Both Tina and Erica said that working on the song came pretty easy; that the words simply flowed from their hearts. Proof of its poignancy came when a friend in the studio came to tears after listening to it the first time.

"You can't put everything in a song and sometimes you want to," Erica said of one of the few challenges the two faced in making the song. "We finally got together and agreed on what we wanted to say. It is a lot about my mom and what we understand a mother to be. One thing that makes a mother wonderful is to be able to take care of their home and do it with grace and elegance and still being strong at the same time. And doing that all with a smile is a challenge, but we had a good example"

Erica vouched that as a mother of a one-year old, wearing a smile doesn't always come easy. Tina, the mom of three young girls, also said that another challenge was finding the time to work on the song.

"The biggest challenge was finding the time to get in the studio," she said. "We're in the middle of recording a record and traveling, so we had this wonderful song, but it was hard finding time to get in and do it and do the radio drops and all the extras."

Still, Tina agreed that coming up the words came easy.

"Coming up with the words to talk about great moms who effect children's lives so greatly and help to build incredible human beings - that wasn't at all a challenge," she said. "That is one of the most inspirational things ever. And if you're a songwriter, things that are inspiring help you to pick up a pen and flow easily."

Mary Mary said that they didn't feel pressured about the song, even though it is partly a commercial, basically promoting Colgate, commissioned by the company. The two said that when they create, they don't really get concerned about who is going to make money as the end result or making sure it reaches a particular demographic.

"We don't think that hard when we write," Tina explained. "We're so grateful to God for the gift to be able to do this. And when God has given you a gift, all you have to do is work to perfect it. Once we have a small bit of inspiration in writing a song, it's not something that's a challenge, and we try not to consider all those different elements. When you start trying to consider too much of that, sometimes you over think it."

The two basically sat down and asked themselves, "What is the general idea?" and came up with the fact that they are creating a song for mothers; to be inspired; to touch their hearts, and to provide the exact sentiment that people want to say to their mothers on their special day.

"We just let it flow," Erica said of the process. "You open you heart and you open your mouth and you just sing and people get it."

Apparently, the execs at Colgate-Palmolive got it right away.

"They liked it from the start," Tina said, "but we're extremely hard on ourselves. We're hard on ourselves as writers to make sure we're clever, and creative, and original."

And how did it go over with the muse of the piece mom? Tina and Erica said that the song went over quite well with their mom, who simply closed her eyes, shook her head slowly, listened intently, and smiled.

To send your mom a smile, go to www.colgate.com/mothersday and get the song for free - but you'll need a UPC from a Colgate product before downloading.

In the meantime, Mary Mary is finishing up their latest album called "The Sound," which is expected to hit record stores in August. Plus, the duo will be releasing their own line of bath and body products come the New Year. To check out the latest, go to their website at www.mary-mary.com.
