CEE-LO PUTS HIS FOOT IN 'KUNG FU FIGHTING': Carl Douglas classic gets an update for new animated film.
*Gnarls Barkley's CeeLo Green and actor/rocker Jack Black have joined forces to update the 1974 Carl Douglas song "Kung Fu Fighting" for the soundtrack to "Kung Fu Panda," an animated comedy starring the voice of Black.
"A fan of the song first, it was inspiring and an honor to have the opportunity to reintroduce the record to a brand new audience sprinkled with a little of me on top," says a smiling CeeLo.
The neo-funk/electronica cover, the soundtrack's first single, has all new lyrics and was produced by The Underdogs, whose credits include Chris Brown, Marques Houston, and Beyonce.
Interscope Records will release the soundtrack album on June 3, preceding the film's nationwide release from DreamWorks Animation on June 6.
