*Federal prosecutors have launched an extensive investigation into the finances of civil right leader Rev. Al Sharpton and some sources are suggesting that authorities will soon accuse him and his various business entities of owing nearly $1.5 million in back taxes and penalties.

Via his National Action Network, Sharpton has in recent years emerged as one of the top two most influential civil rights leaders in America and last week he labeled the government's tax investigation "retaliation" for his civil rights work and an attempt to "intimidate" him and his associates.

Reportedly, negotiations are underway between Sharpton and federal authorities to reduce the size of the alleged debt and some payments are said to have already been made. (source: Taylor Media Services)
