JERMAINE SAYS JANET'S READY FOR A BABY: But that was news to Janet, according to Ryan Seacrest.
*Janet Jackson was apparently blindsided by news that her longtime boyfriend, Jermaine Dupri, told People magazine that they're finally ready to have a baby.
"Yeah, soon," Dupri said Sunday at a dinner party hosted by New Era and Belvedere Vodka at West Hollywood's STK restaurant. "Right after the tour." (Janet's North American "Rock Witchu" tour is set to run from Sept. 10 through Oct. 22.)
Dupri– who has a daughter, Shaniah, from a previous relationship – went so far as to say he has no preference regarding the sex of the child.
"It really doesn't matter," he said. "Janet would be a great mom. She was around so many brothers and sisters all her life, so she's got to know what that is [like]. And her mom is a great mother."
Yesterday morning, Janet was asked about Dupri's baby news by Ryan Seacrest on his Los Angeles radio show.
"So, Jermaine...said that you guys may be ready for baby. Is that true?" asked Seacrest.
"When did he say that?" Janet replied
After Seacrest explained JD's quote from People.com, Janet laughed and said: "I guess he is."
